My Story
At 27, a head-on car accident changed the course of my life, leaving me with four bulging discs in my lumbar spine and years of chronic pain.
For a long time, I did what many people do — I ignored it and hoped for the best. I genuinely thought that one day I would wake up and the pain would be gone.
Unfortunately, that’s not how it works.
As my condition worsened, even the simplest things became exhausting. I had to slide down the wall to get to the bathroom, drive with a towel under my leg to stop it going numb, and after years of suffering, one of Australia’s leading spinal specialists told me spinal fusion surgery was my only option.
I was terrified.
I had no idea what the alternative was, but I knew that was not the option for me.
Before yoga, if I’m completely honest, I was looking for someone to fix me. Yoga changed that. It taught me that healing wasn’t something someone else could do for me — I had to become an active participant in my own recovery.
Today, through my Healthy Hips & Lower Back Workshop, I travel around Australia sharing practical tools and education that help people better understand the complexity of the human body, empowering them to take a more active and informed role in their own healing, with benefits that extend well beyond the pose.
