Josephine’s first-hand experience healing through the practice of yoga may just change your reality and surprisingly, improve other areas of your life too.

In a story nothing short of remarkable Josephine seriously injured her back in a head-on car accident resulting in four herniated discs. In circumstances that may sound familiar to many, Jo chose to ignore the pain and hoped that in time, things would heal themselves……

After seeking the advice of many professionals, one suggesting spinal fusion was the only option, Jo sought the advice of a friend who suggested yoga! To Jo this was a foreign concept reserved for hippies, weirdos, and the odd tambourine player.

The pain was acute and debilitating on many levels including depression, emotional instability and with less and less physical movement the fear of life in a wheelchair felt imminent. She reached a crossroad, either have spinal fusion or find something else… that ‘something else’ was Yoga and the beginning of the most profound healing journey.

“It was challenging to get onto the floor at my first yoga class without help and without pain.”
After a while the results began to show for themselves, her first uninterrupted sleep was cause for celebration. “I noticed the benefits on my mental health, I felt more at peace and the physical practice became a little less daunting. I had my first ‘aha’ moment when I finally comprehended why the breath is so important and how all parts of this human experience needed to work in harmony for healing, and through this, I felt my body begin to repair itself.”
The results began to show for themselves, her first uninterrupted sleep was cause for celebration. Jo continued attending yoga classes 3 times a week and began studying yoga philosophy with profound results that led to a pain free body, naturally. Incredible! Jo was determined to help others heal through yoga and six years after her first class, it seemed a natural progression to embark on her yoga teacher training, including Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Trauma informed Yoga; Meditation, Philosophy, Somatics and Psychosomatic Therapy. The learning continues. She is sought after by those with physical injuries, working with mental health and providing spiritual guidance if required. Her style is unorthodox and direct, working with the physical, mental, and emotional body to access healing for her clients on a holistic level, with life-changing results.
Josephine travels across Australia and New Zealand from yoga studio's to community halls to small country towns teaching sold-out Healthy Hips and Lower Back – A Therapeutic Yoga Workshop. What a blessed life.

The Australian Yoga Ball
June 23, 2018

The Australian Yoga Ball was the brainchild of Josephine Doyle, an annual fundraising event held at the Sofitel at Darling Harbour, in celebration of the exceptional contribution the yoga community makes in Australian society. Money from ticket sales, donations and sponsorship went to support women and children who affected by Domestic Violence and living in shelters. These funds gave 20 women and children the opportunity to attend a fully funded 3-day yoga retreat. This event, run by the charity Through the Heart of Yoga, aims to offer hope, peace and healing to survivors of domestic violence through yoga.
